Understanding our data-driven player comparison methodology
Choose your preferred league (currently Premier League) and the specific season you want to analyze. Our database covers multiple seasons with comprehensive player statistics.
Type in the names of two players you want to compare. Our search will find players by name, so you can search for first name, last name, or full name. The search is case-insensitive and will show suggestions as you type.
Click "Compare Players" and our system will analyze both players' statistics across multiple categories to provide a comprehensive comparison and verdict.
Our system doesn't just look at raw numbers - it provides intelligent analysis across 7 key categories:
Compares total goals, non-penalty goals, goal rates, and shooting accuracy to determine who's the more clinical finisher.
Analyzes assists, key passes, and contribution to team's creative output to see who creates more chances.
Compares tackles, interceptions, clearances, blocks, and defensive work rate (weighted by position importance).
Calculates what percentage of team's goals/assists each player contributed and how crucial they were to their team's attack.
Compares per-90 stats, minutes played, and consistency across the season to determine who was more efficient.
Analyzes yellow/red cards, games missed, and overall availability to the team to assess reliability.
Evaluates who had better raw numbers and efficiency metrics across all areas for a comprehensive verdict.
We analyze over 20 different statistical categories including:
Our system understands that different positions have different responsibilities. A defender's defensive stats are weighted more heavily than a striker's, while a midfielder's creative output is more important than a goalkeeper's.
We normalize statistics to per-90 minutes to ensure fair comparisons between players who may have played different amounts of time during the season.
Unlike simple stat comparisons, our system provides context, explains why certain stats matter more in specific situations, and gives you a narrative that makes sense of the numbers.
Our system isn't afraid to make bold claims based on the data. It might pick the "unpopular" choice if the statistics clearly support it, giving you fresh perspectives on player comparisons.
Each comparison is grounded in the specific season's context - team performance, league competitiveness, and individual circumstances that affected each player's season.
